With an LSTA grant funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, the Hanson Library has implemented "Serving People with Disabilities" as follows:
Computer Software was purchased which we installed on a dedicated workstation:
JAWs for windows, screenreader
MAGic with speech, screen magnifier
Kurzweil
1000, scan and read materials
Duxbury , translates text into Braille
Other equipment for the workstation:
Romeo 25 Braille embosser
large print keyboard
Computer software was also purchased for the Homework Center. Kurzweil 3000, a program which reads aloud electronic or scanned text, and has a versatile array of other features to help a person read and understand more easily, is installed on a workstation with a scanner.
New materials that can be checked out include:
large print books
book- with- cassette
kits
described videos
large print Reader's
Digest
We also provide delivery
of library materials to the homebound at scheduled intervals.
