Those of you who signed up for the Summer Reading Program may have noticed the Olympic Ring display where we’ll be keeping count of books read by participants this year.
Also, you probably know that the Summer Olympic Games are being held in Greece this August.
What you might not know, is the significance of the rings themselves; so here is a short explanation:
The 5 Olympic Rings represent the 5 major regions of the world…that is…Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Every national flag in the world includes at least 1 of the 5 colors [from left to right] blue, yellow, black, green , red.
Type “Olympics” in your favorite search engine for links and links to more about Olympic history, the upcoming games, and such.
