Freegal – Download popular music for free

The Hanson Library now has a subscription to the downloadable music service Freegal which offers access to about 3 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. You just need a Hanson library card, there’s no software to download and no Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions. Download up to 3 songs per week and transfer them to any device that supports the MP3 format. Owners of an Apple device (iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch) or an Android phone or tablet can download Freegal’s free mobile app by searching for “Freegal Music” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.

  1. Hi
I wanted to let you know I downloaded the Freegal app to my Nexus 7. I added Hanson Library (not alphabetical order) and was able to download a song immediately and it went right to my Google Play. Freegal has closed unexpectedly but this app is easy to use. I wish the other library apps were this easy.

  2. Thanks for the feedback Kate. It’s good to know how things are working from the user perspective.
