Dear Library Community,
As you may know, a FY25 budget was approved at the May 6th Town Meeting, but an additional amount to cover the school district’s assessment was rejected. Another Town Meeting on June 17th will ask you to make a decision about the funding of Town departments. The Library is facing cuts which would eliminate staff hours and have a significant impact on our services and hours of operation.
The greatest impact would be on Library programming. Summer Reading kicks off on June 14th, with two months of exciting events and activities planned for all ages, including reading challenges, crafting & painting classes, live animal shows, author visits, nature walks, and STEAM programs for children. The proposed cuts would jeopardize our ability to provide enriching programs like these to the community. Fewer staff hours would also affect our ability to provide other services and possibly reduce our hours of operation.
We receive a lot of positive feedback and kind words from our patrons, so we know you appreciate what we do! The June 17th Town Meeting is an opportunity for you to support your Library. Please help us continue as a welcoming space in Hanson that provides engaging programs, experiences, and resources to everyone. We hope to see you there!
