Dear Library Community,
The state Senate recently passed an Economic Development Bond Bill that would prohibit municipalities from receiving library construction grant funds if they are not in compliance with the MBTA multi-family zoning requirement. The House passed a similar bill in June that does not contain this restriction. The two bills are set to go before a House-Senate Conference Committee to work out the differences.
If the Senate version of the bill is adopted, the Hanson Library would not be eligible for the construction grant we applied for in May 2024. Hanson residents could lose a wonderful opportunity to renovate or build a much-needed community and educational resource of a new public library.
If you would like to express your opinions regarding this matter to your legislators, you can reach them using the contact information below.
Please also feel free to contact me with any questions, and as always, thank you for your support!
